Honoring educators and supporting students at Spokane Velocity match

Premera Blue Cross teamed up with Spokane Velocity FC to host a Teacher Appreciation Game on May 10 at ONE Spokane Stadium, bringing together educators, students, and families for an afternoon centered on community impact.

The highlight of the match was the halftime celebration of Fiona Zwiesler, a health and fitness teacher at Linwood Elementary School. Coach Z, standing alongside her family and colleagues, was recognized for supporting students’ well-being and creating a positive, inclusive school environment. As part of the celebration, Premera presented a donation to Linwood Elementary to fund student and classroom needs.

In addition to honoring educators, the match featured “The Summer Assist,” a community-driven wellness and supply drive. Fans donated items such as art supplies, journals, fidgets, and shelf-stable snacks to help students stay engaged when school is out for summer.
