Premera and MultiCare continue contract negotiations
MultiCare Health Systems issued a termination notice to Premera in November 2025. Since then, Premera has been negotiating with MultiCare in good faith to reach a new agreement that provides access to affordable, quality care for our members, and fairly compensates the health system.
We understand we’re in unprecedented economic times, and we want to do our part to help. Significant rate increases, untethered to improvements in quality or access to care, work against our objective of making healthcare work better. We deeply value our long-standing relationship with MultiCare. That’s why our focus has been – and continues to be – quickly reaching a new contract that mutually benefits MultiCare and our members.
To give you more information and answer your questions, we’re hosting a call on Tuesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time with our sales leadership – register now!
We’ll send a confirmation to those who register prior to the call with the log in information. In the meantime, you can learn more about the negotiations on our Healthsource blog.
What you need to know:
- We are currently in active negotiations with MultiCare. We will keep you updated on the status of these negotiations, especially as we get closer to the May 31 deadline.
- Members will receive notification of the effective date of the MultiCare termination on April 30 if an agreement isn’t reached by then.
- If we cannot reach an agreement with MultiCare by May 31
- Emergency care will still be covered at MultiCare facilities
- Non-urgent or non-emergent care may not be covered, or will cost more out of pocket, if members see a provider associated with MultiCare.
- Members can find in-network providers using the Find Care tool in the Premera mobile app or through the secure member website.
