Premera HMO: We’re raising awareness about cancer screening coverage
The NIH (National Institute of Health) estimates that nearly 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. This is a surprising number, but the good news is that preventive care services like screenings can help to catch and treat certain cancers in their early stages.
We’re reaching out to members with resources, information, and personalized care gap reminders about which cancer screenings are covered by their Premera Blue Cross HMO (PBC HMO) plan. It’s recommended that they get screened to prevent unseen conditions from getting worse.
Breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screenings are covered in full as preventive care by PBC HMO plans. It’s also important to note that these services are considered direct care, which means that your employees don’t need a referral for them.
