Race, Ethnicity, and Language Questionnaire Now Available on Premera Website and App
In November, we shared with you that we’d be collecting race, ethnicity, and language (REL) data from our members. The collection of REL data is part of a nationwide mandate from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
As of January, Premera members can now access the REL survey, under account settings, in their Premera web portal or Premera mobile app. The REL survey offers about 150 options for race and ethnicity, and about 50 language options.
Why this matters: This is a crucial step toward gaining a deeper understanding of our members and the health inequities they face, especially those from historically marginalized communities. With this data, we can develop targeted, data-driven programs that truly cater to the unique needs of our members.
What’s next: Beginning in February, members may receive an email or postcard communication to encourage their participation.
